After a relaxing afternoon at the Blue Lagoon, you’ll return to Reykjavík for the evening, where you’ll have the chance to explore the city’s vibrant nightlife, with its many bars, restaurants, and clubs. Your guide can recommend some great spots for dinner and drinks, or you can venture out independently and discover the city’s unique atmosphere.
Day 2: Golden Circle Tour: Thingvellir National Park, Geysir, & Gullfoss Waterfall
On day two of your driver-guided tour, you’ll embark on the famous Golden Circle tour, a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Iceland.
The Golden Circle is a 300-kilometer loop that takes you through some of Iceland’s most stunning natural wonders, including Thingvellir National Park, Geysir, and Gullfoss Waterfall.
Your first stop will be Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site with great historical and geological significance. Here, you’ll be able to walk between the tectonic plates of North America and Eurasia, slowly moving apart and creating a unique and stunning landscape. You’ll also learn about the park’s role in Iceland’s political and cultural history, as it was the site of the country’s first parliament, established in 930 AD.
Next, you’ll visit Geysir, a geothermal area known for its active geysers, including Strokkur, which erupts every few minutes, shooting hot water up to 20 meters into the air. You’ll have the chance to witness this impressive natural phenomenon up close and capture some fantastic photos.
Finally, you’ll head to Gullfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls. This magnificent waterfall cascades down two tiers and drops 32 meters into a narrow canyon, creating a breathtaking display of natural beauty. After exploring the Golden Circle, you’ll return to Reykjavík, where you can relax and reflect on the day’s adventures. Your guide can recommend some great restaurants and bars to try out, or you can explore the city alone.

Here, you can take a boat tour to get up close and personal with the icebergs or admire the scenery from the shore.
Next, you’ll visit Diamond Beach, located just across the road from the glacier lagoon. This black sand beach is named after the glistening ice chunks that wash ashore, creating a stunning contrast against the dark sand. You’ll have the opportunity to walk along the beach, take photos of the sparkling ice, and soak up the serene atmosphere.
